Some questions about teething?

My son is 6 months old and going through his 2nd bout of uncontrollable snot. He sneezes and it flies (yuck, sorry). The first time was back in early November (no teeth appeared but he began chewing on everything in sight) and he started it up again this morning. He doesn't have a fever and he's his normal happy, perky self. Did your baby do the mucus thing before cutting teeth?
