Calling people ignorant WITHOUT negative connotation?

Is it possible for me to call let's say a friend ignorant of his own relationship WITHOUT giving the annotation that he's stupid? Meaning, I'm calling him ignorant because he doesn't know the facts of his relationship AND not that he's making stupid decisions?
